| Course Structure |
| The course programme consists of three parts. Each part comprises the following modules. |

The Postgraduate Level will cover the technical skills of Strategic Marketing (Marketing Planning, Marketing Skills and Management for Marketing) and an Integrated Research Project, where students have to complete a mini research study based on a practical, prevailing issue in a reputed organization or industry.
At this level, students are expected to apply the subject knowledge/technical skills they have obtained throughout the entire course of study to analyze and research the prevailing socio–economic issues. A bound dissertation (written documentation) must be submitted at the end of the semester, followed by a Viva defense session, where students will have to defend their research hypotheses, objectives, methods, findings and recommendations to a panel of academics. |

| Entry for those with over 10 years experience in executive / management positions will not be based on examination results. Graduates of other professions or Masters degree holders will be assessed by Education Division for the most appropriate level of entry. |

| Applying for Exemptions |
| The board of study will have the right to recognize and approve the granting of exemptions. Exemptions are permitted for the following categories of students. |
| |
Those who have obtained a merit pass (A or B grade) at the PCM conducted by SLIM, will be exempted from the subject ‘Essentials of Marketing’ in the Foundation Level |
| |
University degree holders who have covered relevant subject areas in Marketing |
| |
Students who have completed professional courses which includes the relevant subject areas in marketing |
| |
| Such exemption applications can be submitted to the Education Division by way of the “Exemption Eligibility Check” application form at the beginning of the semester. Exemptions are only granted for registered students of the Institute. An exemption fee will be charged for each subject exempted and is applicable for the last two categories stated above. |

| The course runs over a period of 1 ½ years. |
| Selection and Admission |
All students will be subjected to an entrance examination that would ascertain their IQ & English Language proficiency. Prospective students are expected to present themselves for a written entrance examination by paying a fee of LKR 500 to SLIM. Successful students will be invited to register for the programme.
The results of the selection test and Viva will ONLY be applicable for that particular intake. |
