SLIM and Devi Balika Vidyalaya support remote Bibile School
A coaching programme was sponsored by SLIM to help students of a remote Bibile school which recorded the lowest number of GCE O/L last year.  The programme was initiated by Suhada Sahajeewana Sanwardana Sanvidanaya and conducted by teachers from Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo with the objective of preparing students for the O/L exams to be held in December.

The classes were attended by nineteen students of Thambana Vidyalaya, Bibile, which has a severe shortage of teachers and none at all for O/L mathematics or science subjects. The devotion and efforts of the six teachers and one volunteer teacher, school prefects and even non-academic staff were commendable.

This project was funded by SLIM as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility programme.  President SLIM Sarath Fernando said all private organisations should adopt CSR initiatives as an important part of their activities.
