The SLIM – Nielsen People’s Award is an initiative of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing ( SLIM ) and the Nielsen Company Lanka ( Pvt) Ltd. In 2006, SLIM, the national body of marketing which has programs to encourage best practices in research, branding, advertising and sales, partnered with the Nielsen Company , the largest research company in Sri Lanka, and has been conducting this annual event , popularly known as the SLIM – Nielsen People’s Awards.
The concept of the People’s Awards is unique and novel where people are the primary and only source of deciding who the winners are across the brands, organizations and personalities. As the leading global marketing information service provider, Nielsen conducts intensive surveys within a spectrum of the populace to ascertain brands, organizations and personalities who are at the top – of – mind and thus are considered for the People’s Awards. This year, for the first time in the history of the Awards, the survey boasts of a more representative sample of the people, as it includes the North and East of the country.
