SLIM Toastmasters Club started end 2008 and it is proud to announce that Club has been able to produce three competent communicators by May 2010.”Competent Communicator” is an achievement in Toastmasters and once member completes required number of projects, “Toastmaster International” awards the member a “Competent Communicator” certificate.

Charitha Jayasinghe, the first club member to have achieved this status was awarded the Competent Communicator certificate by “Toastmaster International” in May 2010. Mr.Nimal Weerasekara and Ms.Mihirini Fonseka were the next club members to have a achieved the same status. Toast Masters International is a nonprofit organization and presently has nearly 250,000 members in over 12,500 clubs in 106 countries which offers a proven and enjoyable way to practice and hone communication and leadership skills.

Recently, SLIM Toastmasters was fortune to participate at a presentation made by Mr. Mark Brown, who won the Toastmasters International World Champion in public speaking in 1995.SLIM Toastmasters club meetings are held at “SLIM Home” every fortnight.

Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing, Toastmasters' Club celebrated its Charter Ceremony 2009 on 3rd November 2009 at Soverign Corporate Hotel, Rajagiriya at 6.00 p.m.

Mr Dehan Senevirate who had been a Past President at SLIM was the Chief Guest and President SLIM, Mr. Saliya Weerasekera was the special Guest. Governor Toastmaster (TM) Mahesh Jayasinghe, Governor Area 2, TM Jeromy Weerasinghe, and Mentor Distinguished TM Padmini Samarasinghe too graced the occasion.
